Two Suspected Arsons in Trail Sunday

On Sunday, April 3, at 3:25 p.m., Trail and Greater District RCMP and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue responded to an intentionally set grass fire near the 5000 block of Hwy 3B, in Trail, according to Trail detachment NCOIC Sgt. Mike Wicentowich. KBRFR extinguished the fire while Trail RCMP conducted a scene examination and search of the area.

Later the same day, at 7:31 p.m., Trail and Greater District RCMP and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue responded to an intentionally set grass fire near Devito River and Bear Creek Road, in Trail.

“KBRFR extinguished the fire while Trail RCMP conducted a scene examination and search of the area,” Wicentowich said. “Trail RCMP located four other areas in which there appeared to be recent intentionally set fires.

“Trail RCMP continues to investigate the suspicious fires and ask the residents in the area to remain on the lookout for any suspicious people or occurrences that may be related to the cause of these two fires.”
