On Feb 26, at 1:10 p.m. Trail and Greater District RCMP received a report of a 22-year-old Trail woman being struck while walking in the crosswalk by a man driving a black 2001 Acura car turning into the intersection of Second Avenue and Hwy 3B in Trail.

Trail RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich said the woman was knocked down and the driver side mirror broke off the Acura.

“The man did not remain at the scene of the incident and fled westbound on Hwy 3B. A witness saw the alleged driver and Acura stopped at a business in Warfield, before he continued driving on Hwy 3B in the direction of Rossland,” Wicentowich said. “The driver is described as young Indo-Canadian man with a beard and wearing a turban. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

“Trail RCMP continues to conduct an investigation into the driver for Fail to Stop After Accident contrary to Section 320.16(1) of the Criminal Code. Please contact the Trail Detachment at 250-364-2566 to speak to an investigator if you have information about the incident.”
