Violent encounter has RCMP looking for suspects throughout area
RCMP in the Kootenays are working to identify three masked suspects responsible for an armed break-in to a Salmo area home early Tuesday morning, according to an RCMP press release issued this afternoon.
On May 25, 2021 a short time after 3:30 a.m., Salmo RCMP responded to a report of an attempted violent break-and-enter, that just occurred at a home situated in the 5100-block of Hwy 3. Police have learned that three masked individuals showed up and reportedly smashed a number of windows to the home.
Although the unknown suspects ultimately did not enter inside the home, they were seen in possession of firearms, which were allegedly pointed at occupants inside at the time, said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesman for the BC RCMP in the Southeast District. Police have examined the scene for physical evidence, and have been canvassing the area for witnesses or video surveillance footage.
The three armed, and yet to be identified, suspects are believed to have fled the area westbound on Highway 3 toward Trail and Castlegar.
