RCMP come in handy for stranded bikers; sexual assault allegation; vehicle vandalism

A couple of mountain bikers on the Seven Summits trail made it nearly to the end of their ride, but had suffered four flat tires and needed help getting back to their vehicle. RCMP received the call at 8:23 pm on August 15, and found a pair of exhausted but otherwise uninjured bikers with their injured bikes, and transported them back to their four-wheeled, motorized vehicle.
In Warfield, RCMP officers responded to a report of “a woman in distress” at 11:56 pm on August 15. When they located her, she said she had been sexually assaulted. The officers searched for and located a 34-year-old man, and a criminal investigation is ongoing; no charges had been laid at the time of publication.
The RCMP have had reports of vehicles vandalized in Trail and Rossland; the Rossland vehicle was a 1980 Jeep Laredo, vandalised while parked overnight in the parking lot of the Rossland Summit School. The paint on the jeep was scratched and the soft top doors sustained cuts.
