Selkirk College Offers Online Spring Semester Learning Options

The COVID-19 pandemic has put the temporary brakes on normal post-secondary schedules, but the learning has not stopped and Selkirk College is inviting students to explore pathways in the upcoming Spring Semester.
New and returning students can now choose from an array of courses in the School of University Arts & Sciences and the School of Academic Upgrading as part of the college’s distance learning options starting on May 4.
“There is a lot of uncertainty for those pursuing a post-secondary education, but our instructors are looking forward to creating a sense of normal when it comes to completing important requirements,” says Tracy Punchard, Chair of the School of University Arts & Sciences. “The courses we are offering for the Spring Semester provide a great opportunity for both current students and those planning on attending in the Fall Semester. It is an important way to stay engaged with learning and make connections with instructors through an online-driven format.”
In early-March, Selkirk College shifted away from an in-person classroom schedule to alternative methods of delivery to get students through the current term. That momentum will continue with 12 transferrable university-level courses starting on May 4 that include Creative Writing, English, French, Math, Psychology and Spanish. The eight-week semester is available for new and returning students with completion of studies on June 26.
The School of Academic Upgrading provides students the chance to complete pre-requisites or bolster marks on transcripts to prepare for next educational steps. The 12-week courses include Math, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English. The Academic Upgrading courses run from May 4 to July 30 and are offered tuition free.
“These courses provide some stability for learners who want to use this time to further their education,” says Punchard. “Our instructors are eager to provide the same dedication to building the knowledge and understanding that takes place on a regular basis at Selkirk College.”
