Castlegar RCMP disrupts area drug trafficker
The Castlegar RCMP have a seized a substantial amount of illicit drugs following the execution of two search warrants at two Castlegar residences on Thursday.
During the afternoon of October 25, 2018, the Castlegar RCMP conducted simultaneous search warrants on two local residences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. As a result of the two search warrants, a large quantity of suspected fentanyl pills were seized (approximately 800). The search also resulted in the seizure of 17 ounces of cocaine, 1kg of cannabis, over $50,000.00 in cash, other pills believed to be synthetic drugs, firearms and ammunition.
An adult female and two adult males were arrested. A local 52-year-old male remains in custody at this time with numerous drug and weapons offence related charges pending. The other male and female, both 65 years old, were arrested and released at the scene.
This search was the result of a collaborative effort between RCMP investigators from Nelson, Trail and Castlegar. It is believed that this seizure has disrupted a large illicit drug trafficking operation that has been impacting local communities in the Castlegar and Trail area.
