Advisory – Parking at KBRH during construction

We’re getting an expanded Emergency Department, and significant electrical upgrades, at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.  As with most operations, there’s some pain involved; people coming to the hospital will be faced with change and inconvenience for parking and access.

Interior Health (IH) asks everyone coming to the hospital during construction to please:

1.     Allow extra time beforehand, for parking and access – especially for appointments.

2.     Watch for new signage and follow directions on it.

3.     Follow directions from flaggers.

The main entrance to KBRH remains open. A new patient drop-off area is being created east of the hospital (left at the top of Hospital Bench Road) to minimize the impact for individuals with mobility issues.

IH has consulted with the City of Trail to allow for overflow parking on Hospital Bench Road. Signs will be put in place to mark areas where parking is permitted on the road.

IH regrets the inconvenience people will suffer during construction; if we can all follow the requests in bold, above, the inconvenience will be smaller for everyone, instead of worse. At the end of the construction, we’ll have a bigger, better Emergency Department for our times of need.
