UPDATED: 'Distracted driving' contributing factor to accident near Beasley Bluffs

RCMP said in a media release, "distracted driving" looks to the be cause of a two-vehicle accident late Monday morning on Highway 3A west of Nelson near the Beasley Bluffs.

The accident caused a major disruption to traffic flows on Highway 3A around the noonhour.

"On August 28, 2017 at 1158 hours there was a two-vehicle collision resulting in both vehicles in the north ditch of Highway 3A in the Beasley Bluff area," the release said.

"Minor injuries were sustained by the occupants of one vehicle."

RCMP said both vehicles were towed from the scene.

"Distracted driving appears to be the major contributing factor," the release added.

Two-vehicle accident near Beasley Bluffs

Traffic on Highway 3A west of Nelson was slowed considerably due to a two-vehicle collision Monday morning.

Nelson RCMP along with BC Ambulance and Beasley and Blewett Fire Departments responded to the two-car accident near the Beasley Bluffs approximately 12 kilometers west of the Heritage City.

The accident remains under investigation by RCMP.
