Castlegar Art Walk to be unveiled June 28

Castlegar’s arts community will come together in full force June 28 when the 21 annual Art Walk Opening Celebration takes place at the Rec Complex in Castlegar.
As many as 100 art lovers, artists, business sponsors and people who just want to put the ‘art’ in party are expected to attend the free event, from 7 to 8:30 p..m. The opening celebration features original artwork by Art Walk artists, live music by the virtuoso duo Jim and Barb Sinclair, munchies, punch and a chance to win an original print donated for this event by local artist Kari Burk. You can only enter to win at the Opening and the winner will be announced at evenings’ end.
Why is Art Walk such an important event in our community? It’s soft-impact tourism, non-polluting and is a great agent for community development as Art Walk is a fabulous opportunity to partner business with art.
This year, as a walking and driving tour of visual art, Art Walk exhibits a record of more than 30 artists in 28 gallery venues from June through September. You can pick up your tour brochure showing Art Walk locations tonight at the Opening, or at any of the mini-galleries and the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Info Centre. Celebrate community and join in a great evening of art and entertainment celebrating Castlegar’s 21 Art Walk on June 28 at the Rec Complex.
