While police continue to maintain absolute silence regarding the emergency evacuation of Mount Sentinel Secondary School after threats to same, SD 8 has released a third update in three days on the MSSH webpage.

While offering little new information regarding the nature of the threats, the release announced the school will remain closed on Monday.

The release reads as follows:

Dear Students, Parents and School Community,

We continue to appreciate your continued patience and support through this difficult and challenging time. Please be sure to continue to follow our school website for up to date information regarding when the school will re-open and the end of the year activities.

As stated on Friday, we were made aware of a serious threat to the safety of our students, staff and school community.

We have made the decision to continue with the closure of the school for Monday, June 27 given the ongoing police investigation.

We have made this decision in consultation with our violence threat risk assessment team that includes safe school experts, our own Trauma Response Team, the RCMP, Nelson Police and MCFD.

Re-opening the school is our priority and we are hoping that will happen on Tuesday. Please continue to watch the website as we will post updates as they are available.

Thank you to everyone who has remained extra vigilant over the weekend and we ask that (you) continue to report anything that is suspicious in nature.
