Phoenix Mountain has joined an international consortium of community and independent ski areas, known as the Mountain Playground Group.  Facilitated by the Mountain Rider’s Alliance (MRA), participating ski areas will band together to increase skier visits and share best practice and marketing strategies.

“Mountain Riders Alliance has been studying the challenges facing smaller ski areas since 2010,” said Jamie Schectman, MRA CEO and co-founder. “The Mountain Playground Group is a solutions-based approach for standalone ski areas to work together and ensure a better chance of survival, as well as provide a layer of sophistication not commonly found at the smaller ski area level.”

Phoenix Mountain’s participation in the Mountain Playground Group will increase our profile to both the Canadian and International audience, “said Ciel Sander, PMASS Vice-President.  “Anyone visiting us will learn we have lots of vertical potential and powder turns at the end of the day and feel good about checking us out.”

The consortium is designed to raise awareness of the authenticity and uniqueness of participating ski areas.  To complement the program, the Mountain Playground Card will be sold at the introductory price of US $29 for one year of savings. Cardholders will receive 2 for 1 lift tickets to Phoenix Mountain on Fridays as well as benefits on items such as ski and snowboard equipment, retail goods, vacation rentals, tours and more.

Fifteen per cent of all sales of the Mountain Playground Cards will be donated to SheJumps, a 501(c) 3 non-profit whose mission is to increase the participation of women and girls in outdoor activities.
