Convicted accomplice in Nelson Armed Robberies remains in custody after bail hearing adjourned

The convicted accomplice involved in a string of robberies that terrorized financial institutions throughout the West Kootenay in spring of 2014 remains in custody after a bail hearing was adjourned Thursday afternoon at Provincial Court in Nelson.
Krista Kalmikoff, 28, has been sent to a women’s holding facility until February 2, when she will appear via video conferencing to answer to breaching bail conditions.
Kalmikoff was out on bail awaiting sentencing after being convicted of five of the six counts following a string of robberies, including the hold ups at the Kootenay Currency Exchange and the Nelson District Credit Union in 2014.
Kalmikoff was found guilty of being an accomplice in the armed robberies committed by her former partner Andrew Stevenson.
Provincial Court Judge Donald L. Sperry granted the delay Thursday after Kalmikoff’s lawyer Blair Sufferdine made a successful motion to adjourn the bail hearing.
Sufferdine, who was not in the courtroom at the time of the bail hearing instead appearing via telephone, made the motion saying he was unable to adequately prepare for the hearing.
Kalmikoff made a brief court appearance Monday to set a date for the bail hearing.
However, the bail hearing was delayed through the week until Thursday.
Stevenson, who plead guilty to eight counts of criminal offenses, is currently serving a 10-year sentenced handed down in September 2015.
After the bail hearing, Kalmikoff will be back in court for sentencing.
