Garage burns down, home saved after early morning fire
Fire crews are still dealing with a blaze in the 3100 block of 4 Avenue this morning, according to fire chief Gerry Rempel.
Rempel said the call came in at roughly 6:15 a.m.
“It’s a structure fire – a garage, and a couple of vehicles outside the garage involved as well,” he said, adding the garage was fully involved when the three fire crews arrived.
“We’ve got it pretty much knocked down now,” he said in an interview at 7:05 a.m. “But we’ll still be here awhile dealing with hot spots and, right now, lots of steam.”
He said the nearby house had been evacuated and was kept safe by fire crews, so no one was threatened or injured by the conflagration.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
