IT IS SKI SWAP TIME AGAIN!

The chill in the air is a welcome reminder that the ski season is just around the corner.   Time to swap the old for the new, or for the less old…

Local ski racers and enthusiasts will get their first fix of skiing with the ANNUAL RED MOUNTAIN RACERS SKI SWAP set to take place this Saturday, October 24th at Willi Krause Field House in Trail.  Gear drop off is from 8:30-11:00 am with the swap doors opening for gear buying at the crack of noon.

RED Mountain Resort will be there as usual ready to take photos for season pass holders and to sell their “locals only card”.

BIG NEWS for the Racers and RED Mountain Resort

RED Mountain Resort received the BC Alpine Mountain Resort of the Year Award for 2015. The award was presented by BC Alpine President and CEO, Bruce Goldsmid, at the BC Alpine AGM and Awards Banquet. This award recognizes a resort that has gone above and beyond to support the sport of alpine ski racing in British Columbia.

In addition, Red Mountain Racers, Sammie Gaul & Soleil Patterson, were recognized by BC Alpine for exceptional athletic ability, leadership, and dedication to the sport of ski racing. Sammie and Soleil were awarded bursaries to assist them as they move forward in the sport of ski racing.

Over the summer months Soleil has had the opportunity to spend several weeks training with the BC Team both on snow and as part of a dryland camp that took place in Whistler.

Sammie, the reigning U14 Provincial Champion, spent her summer competing in Australia. At the Australian Nationals she placed 2nd overall in the U16 category. We are very proud of the girls and wish them the very best in the coming season.

In just 4 weeks the team will begin training at home as The Legacy Training Centre at RED Mountain Resort is scheduled to open November 14th!

Please Welcome Red Mountain Academy Alpine Athletes

For the coming season we are delighted to welcome two international racers to our program. Hugo (from Sweden) joins our FIS team and Clemens (from Germany) joins our U16/U18 team. The boys have been very busy this fall checking out our mountain bike trails and gearing up for their first days on snow.

In January we will once again be delighted to welcome back a number of Australian racers who will be returning to train and race with us for several weeks during their summer break.

Exciting Season Ahead

This year the Red Mountain Racers are delighted to be hosting 3 major races including the BC Games Zone Qualifier in January, the Fidelity BC CUP FIS Race Series March 1 – 6, and the U14 Provincial Championships March 17 -20.  It is going to be a busy but very fun season so please come out and cheer on our local athletes. They are a very talented group and they greatly appreciate your support!
