Nelson SARS locate body of missing John Vincent

Nelson Search and Rescue said the body of the 28-year-old man missing since Thursday (September 24) has been found.

Chris Armstrong of Nelson SARS said the body was removed from Kootenay Lake Monday.

“New evidence was discovered Monday morning and an aerial search by helicopter was conducted resulting in the locating and recovery of John Vincent,” Armstrong, Public Information Officer for Nelson SARS said in a media release.

“BCSARA and local SAR teams wish to convey our condolences to the Vincent family.”

Armstrong said SARS teams from Kaslo, Castlegar and South Columbia had been actively searching for Vincent since was last seen walking on Awesome View Rd in Beasley on Thursday (September 24) at approximately 2 p.m. and was believed to be headed to the Nelson area at that time.

Nelson Police Department had received unconfirmed reports of Vincent sightings in the areas of Sproat Dr, John’s Walk, Red Sands Beach and Bealby Point Rd.

The BC Coroner’s Service has now taken over the investigation.
