The Crescent Valley Beach parking lot is getting a facelift.

The Regional District of Central Kootenay announced Wednesday the parking lot adjacent Highway 6 will be closed for upgrades until (Wednesday) August 12.

The RDCK, with assistance from the Ministry of Transportation, Yellow Head Road and Bridge, and Selkirk Paving, will be upgrading the parking lot over the next week in conjunction with the paving of Highway 6.

“This is phase one of two to create the parking lot for the popular regional park,” the RDCK release said.

“The design is from the Crescent Valley Beach Park Management Plan process.”

The first phase will develop the entry into the park, 14 parking stalls and a drop-off/pick-up area. Phase 2 will develop approximately an additional 45 parking and two RV parking spaces.

The RDCK said the Crescent Valley Community Hall has generously offered space for users to park.

However, if an event is taking place, such as a funeral, we ask that park users find another safe spot to park their vehicle.

Yellowhead Road and Bridge and Selkirk Paving are donating a large portion of their services for this important community project.

The development of the parking lot is only one aspect of the Management Plan for Crescent Valley Beach.
