Gas leak shuts down city block in downtown Nelson

A gas leak has forced businesses to evacuate and traffic to be rerouted, away from the intersection of Hall and Vernon Streets in downtown Nelson.
The call came in at roughly 10:30 a.m. The Nelson Fire Department and Fortis responded, evacuating nearby businesses.
It is believed the gas line was damaged during sewer work currently being undertaken by the Stores to Shores Project.
