UPDATED: Finally good news in search for missing hikers near Keremeos

There was a glimmer of hope in the search for two missing hikers who disappeared in the backcountry near Keremeo.
News sources are reporting a set of tracks was found Friday near a trail the couple is believed to have used.
The find was the first lead since Rick Moynan and Lynne Carmody were reported missing after failing to return to Cathedral Lakes Lodge on Monday following a day hike in the provincial park there.
RCMP said chances of survival are good because there is plenty of fresh water in the area where they’re presumed missing, which is 2,100 metres above sea level.
Cathedral Provincial Park and Protected Area covers approximately 335 square kilometres southwest of Keremeos and extends to the Canada-U.S. border.
Still no clues in search for missing hikers near Keremeos
RCMP in Keremeos said there is still no trace of two missing hikers from Ontario last seen Monday heading toward an Alpine lake in a remote provincial park in the Similkameen region of the province.
Rick Moynan and Lynne Carmody, believed to be in their 50s, were reported missing Monday evening.
Since the report, SARS teams have been searching trails and forests in the Cathedral Lakes area, a popular destination for hikers.
However, there have been no clues as to their whereabouts.
The RCMP helicopter will keep doing flyovers, until it’s needed elsewhere.
SARS teams search for two missing hikers near Keremeos
Search and Rescue teams continue to search for two missing hikers in the Similkameen region of the province.
Monday (June 22) at 8:36 p.m. the Keremeos RCMP received a report of two overdue hikers — Lynne Carmody and Rick Moynan are believed to be between 50-60 years old.
A local Lodge advised that the individuals left around 10 a.m. to go for a hike and were to be back by supper time.
When the couple did not return, they conducted a brief search themselves but were unsuccessful so they contacted police.
Search and Rescue (SAR) was activated immediately and they began a search first thing this morning by foot, vehicle and air.
The upper camp from where the two went missing was at approximately the 6800 ft elevation level.
As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, the search continues and the hikers are still unaccounted for.
