A-29 year-old Castlegar man is facing charges after the Castlegar RCMP received a report from a local business that they had been the victim of a robbery in the early morning hours of June 7, according to Castlegar RCMP Laurel Mathew.

“The male entered the Columbia Avenue store and browsed inside for several minutes before threatening to produce a weapon and demanding money,” she said. “He fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash.

She said the man was apprehended a short time later and is currently in custody facing robbery charges. He will appear in court on June 10 in Castlegar.

“The male indicated he had a weapon, however no weapon was produced, and no one was injured during the event,” she added.
