Trail RCMP are dealing with a spate of vandalism to several different outdoor locations, according to Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“On April 28, Trail and Greater District Detachment received a report from the City of Trail that the tunnel connecting Baily Street to Fifth Avenue, and the riverbank wall near Jubilee Park had been the subject of vandalism,” he said. “Unknown suspects had sprayed painted a significant amount of graffiti at these two locations.”

He said subsequent investigation turned up some information as to the identity of the culprits, but police are still requesting public assistance in finding all those responsible.

“A Trail resident reported to police that on April 20, three females believed to be in their teens were seen fleeing the tunnel at the time of the vandalism,” he said. “One of the females was caught the midst of spray painting by the resident.”

He said police were not notified of the incident at the time of the event.

“On May 18, the … RCMP received a report that unknown suspects had sprayed painted the rocks known as ‘the Onions’ near Gyro Park,” he said. “This graffiti is believed to be connected to the graffiti that occurred in the tunnel and riverbank wall. The graffiti appeared on the rocks overnight.”

He said police continue to investigate the incidents, and are releasing pictures of the graffiti in an effort to identifying the parties responsible for this vandalism.
