Lieutenant Governor to visit Castlegar School; tour Sculpture Walk
On Monday, May 11, the Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, will commence a six-day trip to communities in the West Kootenays including Grand Forks, Christina Lake, Rossland, Warfield, Trail, Castlegar, New Denver, Kaslo, Nelson, Salmo, Fruitvale, Montrose and Creston.
Her first stop in Castlegar will be at a local elementary school, Twin Rivers, and will include stops at historic sites, the college, and a long-term care facility.
She’ll also get a guided tour of the city’s claim to fame as Sculpture Capitol of Canada.
Her itinerary will be as follows:
11:15 a.m.:
Visit to Twin Rivers Elementary school
649 7th Ave., Castlegar
Her Honour will address the students at an assembly. Students from
Castlegar Primary school will also be in attendance.
12: 15 p.m.:
Castle Wood Village
525 Columbia Ave., Castlegar
Her Honour will have lunch and visit the residents.
1:45 p.m.:
Selkirk College
301 Frank Beinder Way, Castlegar
Her Honour will tour Selkirk College.
3:05 p.m.:
Doukhobor Discovery Centre
112 Heritage Way, Castlegar
Her Honour will tour the Doukhobor Discovery Centre.
4:15 p.m.:
Sculpture Walk
Downtown Castlegar
Her Honour will take a guided tour of the Sculpture Walk.
6:30 p.m.:
Brilliant Cultural Centre
1876 Brilliant Rd., Castlegar
Her Honour will speak at a dinner and see a performance of the
Doukhobor Men’s Choir.
