The Monday morning blues proved to be all too true for a driver heading through Nelson.

While cruising through the Heritage City the man, along with his female passenger, was stopped by Nelson Police in the 400 Block of Vernon Street at 3:45 a.m after officers noticed the driver may be impaired.

During the identification process, NPD officers determined the both male and female had outstanding unendorsed BC warrants for several criminal charges in Vernon.

Criminal records check also produced that the 25-year-old male driver had outstanding warrants from Alberta, including a no contact condition with the 20-year-old female passenger.

While the couple was in police cells, NPD dispatch then received a complaint of possible theft from a local store that happened Sunday evening.

Evidence provided by video surveillance in the store led to additional charges.

A bail hearing was conducted the Tuesday morning resulting in the Judicial Justice of the peace remanding the male into custody until Thursday (April 16, 2015).

BC Sheriffs transported the man to the Central Okanagan for an initial appearance in Vernon Provincial Court.

The 25-year-old is also scheduled to appear in Nelson Provincial Court to answer to charges of Theft Under $5000, and three counts of Breach of Recognizance.

His female partner was released on strict conditions and must also attend court in Vernon on Thursday (April 16, 2015) to answer to an additional charge of Theft Under $5000 in Nelson Provincial Court on (Tuesday) April 28, 2015.
