The good news outweighs the bad in regard to a semi-versus-pick-up-truck collision Tuesday morning on Highway 3A, according to Nelson RCMP Sgt. John Ferguson.

He said the call came in at 7:02 a.m., and they responded to an MVA at Blewett Road and Highway 3A — between Bonnington and Playmor Junction.

“The semi driver was inattentive and crossed the centre line, striking the other vehicle,” he said, adding the pick-up was totalled and there is extensive damage to the semi.

Miraculously, the pick-up driver was uninjured and the semi driver sent to hospital with only minor injuries to his foot.

The pick-up truck ended up in the middle of the highway while the semi trailer was went off the road and into the ditch.

Ferguson credits use of seat belts, at least in part, to the fortunate outcome.

The semi driver was issued a violation ticket.

Tuesday morning rush hour traffic in and around the South Slocan/Bonnintgton area was slowed considerably as tow trucks cleared the scene.

Crescent Valley and Beasley Fire Departments responded to the accident scene.
