Police continue to investigate an unusual motor vehicle accident that occurred in Trail yesterday, according to RCMP Cpl. Mike Wilson.

He said the call came in at roughly 3 p.m. on April 6.

“A vehicle was going down the hill toward town on Highway 3B past the dump,” Wilson said. “The driver lost control, crossed into the oncoming lane and drove off road to the left and into a residential area.”

He said the vehicle was found resting on its side at the end of the street, not having struck any people, houses or other vehicles.

“The driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and was the only occupant of the vehicle,” he said, adding police still don’t know quite what happened. “We’re still investigating.”

He did, however, point out that, while the situation is unfortunate, the outcome could have been far, far worse than it was, given the number of obstacles the vehicle managed to avoid in its dangerous trajectory.
