No one hurt in early morning fire in Riondel
Volunteer Fire Chief Corey Medhurst said no one was hurt during an early morning house fire Sunday in Riondel.
Medhurst said crews were called at approximately 9:30 a.m. MST to an abandoned house on Hurst Avenue in Riondel.
The fire is believed to have started in the basement.
No one was hurt in the blaze that was brought under control at approximately 12:40 p.m. No other structures in the area were affected by the fire.
Medhurst said two pieces of apparatus from the Riondel Fire Department and five firefighters attended the fire, as well as BC Ambulance and Creston RCMP.
Additional support was called in from the Balfour Fire Department to help battle the fire.
In total 10 firefighters and four pieces of equipment were used to bring the fire under control.
RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
