UPDATED: Nelson Police arrest 26-year-old female in connection with pharmacy B & E

Despite arresting the suspect in the recent theft of drugs from a local pharmacy, Nelson Police are warning the public to be careful if coming into contact with these narcotics.
Police arrested a 26 year-old female of no fixed address, charging the female with Break and Entering a Business.
“Unfortunately, police were unable to recover the drugs,” said NPD Sgt. Dino Falcone in a media release Wednesday.
“The investigation is on-going but, in the interim, the public should be aware that these drugs, administered by a person other than a qualified physician could cause serious harm or death to an individual.”
Police were contacted Sunday (January 18) that a local pharmacy was broken into and a quantity of narcotics was taken.
The woman was released on a Promise to Appear and an Undertaking and is scheduled to attend Nelson Provincial Court on March 3.
Man charged with assault with a weapon
Early Wednesday morning (January 21) 6:45 a.m., a 26 year-old female attended the front counter of NPD offices to report that she was assaulted in an apartment in the 400 block of Ward Street within the last 30 minutes.
The woman sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene by the BC Ambulance Service.
Nelson Police attended the scene and located the 45 year-old male who was arrested with assault with a weapon.
He was released on a Promise to Appear and an Undertaking and is scheduled to attend Nelson Provincial Court on April 28, 2015.
The investigation is ongoing and a mental health team was brought in to assess the Nelson resident after he was released.

Nelson Police is currently investigating a burglary of a local pharmacy in Nelson.
Police were contacted Sunday that a local pharmacy was broken into and a quantity of narcotics was taken.
NPD officers are concerned with the type and quantity of the narcotics taken that could pose serious danger of accidental overdose if they are not used as directed by a qualified physician.
Local emergency agencies have been notified and are aware if any medical situation is reported where prescription drugs have been abused.
