In less than three weeks millions of fans, football or not, will be parked in front of the television set to watch the Super Bowl.

National Football League fans will be cheering for their favourite teams while others will be glued to the television to see what Anheuser–Busch, Apple, Go-Daddy and Doritos have dreamed up during the ever-comical commercial breaks.

If the voters have their way, fans could be watching the creation by a Nelsonite during the Doritos commercial.

A commercial dreamed up by L.V. Rogers 2000 graduate Corby Martin is one of the 10 finalists for the Doritos “Crash the Super Bowl Contest”.

Martin’s “Selfish Sneezers” made the top ten from the more than 4900 entries.

“They were very excited to make it in to the top 10,” said Martin’s wife Trish, who also is from Nelson.

“But, they do take their film projects very seriously and they are always professionally done. So they had high hopes that they would make it at least the semi finalists (top 30).”

The 30-second DORITOS® brand commercial airs during the broadcast for Super Bowl XLIX, set for Sunday, February 1, at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., home to the Arizona Cardinals.

The public was invited to create a funny, goofy or quirky commercial and enter it into contest.

The 32-year-old Martin, married with two children — three-year-old Maximillion and 10-month-old Matilda— grew up in Nelson snowboarding, mountain biking and skateboarding.

When friends started going pro, Martin turned to filming them, which turned into an Engineering Technician/Cinematographer career and a day job at SIM Digital.

At SIM Digital the Invermere-born Martin repairs high end film equipment and spends weekends filming anything that sounds fun.

“Corby and (director) Devon Ferguson have been working on film projects for a couple of years together,” Trish Martin explains.

“When Devon came up with the concept, for the Doritos Crash The Super Bowl Contest, he wrote the script and then they collaborated to develop the visual look.

“Then Corby takes care of the technical details: lighting, camera work/movements to shoot the commercial.”

Now that Martin has made the “top-10” grade, he’s looking for a little help to push his team over the top and get aired during the Super Bowl.

The commercial garnering the most votes from the public wins a spot on the Super Bowl the top prize of$1 Million and a dream job at Universal pictures.

Now it’s up to the public to vote for “The Sneezers” commercial.

The deal with voting, go to: https://crashthesuperbowl.doritos.com/finalists or direct to the video http://www.selfishsneezers.com/

Voting ends January 28.

“Seriously, we need all the help we can get,” said Trish Martin. “If everyone votes everyday we could have a real good chance of winning.”

So Martin asks West Kootenites not to delay.

Who know? It could make the Super Bowl more exciting than having your favourite team win the game.
