Surrey RCMP has arrested a 23-year-old Surrey man following the sexual assault of a nine year old girl on Aug. 27 (see original release).

On Thursday evening, Aug. 28, officers with the Surrey RCMP’s Special Victims Unit arrested Donovan Adams (no fixed address) in the city centre area of Surrey. After an extensive and intensive investigation over the weekend Adams has now been formally charged with the following offences: Kidnapping, Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Indecent Act, and Break and Enter. He appeared in Surrey Provincial Court Tuesday afternoon.

“The excellent work by our Special Victims Unit assisted by additional officers in our Major Crime and Investigative Services units along with our Forensic and Video forensic teams led to this investigation progressing as quickly as it did,” says Surrey RCMP Supt. Trent Rolfe. “The Surrey RCMP would like to thank the community for their continued support and cooperation in this investigation. This file remained a top priority for our detachment as we understood the concern the community had regarding public safety since this incident.”
