Women and men from all over the West Kootenays will participate in Golf Fore the Cure at Redstone Golf Course on July 31, 2014 in support of the fight against breast cancer.

Last year, while we raised over $3200 with 80 people in attending our funfilled event.  Organizers Deb deTremaudan and Mari Conradi are inviting every one to put their ‘pink’ on and come join in the fun.

This year we hope to reach our goal of $5000 at this West Kootenay event.  We hope the surrounding golf courses will join us in our efforts. Golf Fore the Cure across the country has raised over $5.1 Million for Breast Cancer Research annually since the program began in 2003.

People can put teams together and join as a team, or just put your name down as an individual and we’ll get you on a team.

Subaru is the main sponsor of Golf Canada’s Golf Fore the Cure program which is aimed at growing women’s golf participation in Canada by introducing the game through fun, non-intimidating activities.  They have donated a lob wedge that will be won at the event.

We will have a draw for any ‘new non golfers’ that come out and join us as well.  So bring someone out!

We have had amazing local support and hope very much that we will again this year.  Intact Inusrance has committed to a $10,000 Hole in One prize.

“We have had so much fun working together to help raise these much needed funds for the Canadian Cancer Society,” said tournament coordinator Deb deTremaudan. “The event promises to be a great day. We enjoy golfing, but this event is more about having fun.”

Proceeds from more than 200 sites across the country contribute to this national fundraising initiative and are donated to the Canadian Cancer Society as well as the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.

Local event organizers can earn their spot to play at the Golf Fore the Cure National Event this September, as the two event organizers who raise the most funds will win an all expense paid trip to the national event in Toronto for themselves and three others.
