NPD shutdown shoplifting ring in Heritage City
A call to the local Wal-Mart turned into Nelson Police shutting down a high-stakes Bonny-and-Clyde-like shoplifting ring in the Heritage City Tuesday (June 24).
Nelson dispatch received the call at 2:45 p.m. from staff at the Nelson Wal-Mart that a female shoplifter was in custody.
When officers arrived they found the woman was in the custody of Wal-Mart staff, but the male accomplice had fled the scene.
Nelson Police quickly stopped the male later in a pickup truck that was loaded with apparent stolen goods.
Both suspects were arrested and lodged in NPD cells.
The ongoing investigation discovered a variety of stolen goods from numerous Nelson businesses.
Paddy Doherty and Caron Reness have now been charged with theft, possession of stolen property, escaping lawful custody and breaching a probation order.
The two will remain in custody and appear in Nelson Court Monday, June 30.
