New charges have been laid against two people arrested in relation to an armed robbery Friday at the Nelson and District Credit Union.

Andrew Stevenson, 34, is facing 15 charges while Krista Kalmikoff, 25, is facing 10, according to Deputy Regional Crown Counsel Philip Seagram. He said the current charges are in relation to the NDCU robbery as well as the robbery of the Kootenay Currency Exchange on April 11, and the break-ins at Simply Shoppers and Pharmasave in Castlegar on April 18.

“Police are still investigating,” Seagram said, “so there’s always the possibility that further charges will be laid.”

Kalmikoff appeared in Nelson court Wednesday and was granted bail with conditions, but Stevenson was unable to attend due to injuries.

These injuries were sustained when Stevenson jumped off a bridge while attempting to evade arrest, falling between 30 and 40 feet to the ground below.

Because a suspect was injured, The Independent Investigations Office was notified and have asserted jurisdiction over the matter.

Kalmikoff`s next court appearance is slated for June 10, while Stevenson is scheduled to appear in Nelson court on May 5.
