Nelson Police is reporting a sad ending to the case of the missing Nelson woman, Jade Giesen.

Giesen, 47, missing since Sunday (April 6) was found deceased by Search and Rescue Friday (April 11) at approximately 8 p.m. near the Burlington Northern Rail bed on the way to Troup Junction, before the first trestle.

Nelson Police Detective Nathaniel Holt confirmed news to The Nelson Daily Saturday that Giesen was found approximately 50 feet from the rail bed in the woods.

“This is not the news we had hoped for but this does give the family (and friends) some closure,” Holt said.

“Everyone was working pretty hard, especially Search and Rescue.”

“They had put in a lot of long hours to bring this to closure I just wish it was better news in the end,” Holt added.

Holt said cause of death has not been determined but confirmed there was no indication of foul play.

The investigation has now been turned over to the BC Coroners Office.

Giesen was last seen on April 6 at 10:15 a.m., walking on a trail at Central School on Stanley Street.
