The Canadian Union of Postal Workers Nelson local marked the first sitting day of Parliament in 2014 by launching a petition against planned changes to service by Canada Post.

Nelson Local president, Brenda Muscoby-Yanke was outside the Nelson Post Office collecting signatures against service cuts by Canada Post that could see a loss of door-to-door mail delivery in Nelson and other urban areas across Canada.

The petition is available for signing at the Nelson Post Office, some businesses on Baker Street and also at a town hall meeting scheduled for Feb. 18 at Hume School.

“We’re hoping Canada Post will show up,” says Muscoby-Yanke. “And we’ll have Alex Atamanenko and some union representatives. There will be a question and answer forum in response to the five-point plan that Canada Post has brought forward.”

You can learn more about the five point plan put forward by Canada Post at this link.
