Unbeaten Saints play host to Thompson Rivers
Twelve goals in two games that both resulted in wins.
It doesn’t look like the Selkirk Saints are rebuilding, it looks like the defending B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League champs are reloading.
The Saints take a 2-0 record into a back-to-back home weekend against Thompson Rivers University at the Castlegar Complex.
“I thought we had a slow start and didn’t really get up to full speed until the second period, but once we did the pressure and execution were as good as we’ve seen so far this season,” said Saints head coach Jeff Dubois after Selkirk shutout University of Victoria Vikes last weekend 5-0.
“We were able to roll four lines and get everybody involved. Defensively we kept things tights and limited shots and chances.”
Selkirk opened the season with a 7-2 pasting of Eastern Washington Eagles.
Chris Hurry picked up his first BCIHL shutout with a 13-save performance between the pipes.
Thompson Rivers currently sit tied for top spot with the Saints, both teams with four points.
However, the Wolfpack have played two more games than the Saints.
Game time for both games, Friday and Saturday, is 7:30 p.m.
