IH announces more closures to Victorian Community Health Centre Emergency Department

Interior Health has announced the latest round of closures of the Victorian Community Health Centre Emergency Department due to limited physician/staffing availability.

The closure began Friday (October 4), running until Wednesday (October 9).

Due to limited physician availability the Victorian Community Health Centre Emergency Department will be closed:

  •  5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 to 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7
  • 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 to 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9

Outside these hours, the emergency department will be open.

The closures are due to limited physician/staffing availability the Victorian Community Health Centre Emergency Department.

“Interior Health continues to actively recruit for permanent and locum physicians and regrets this temporary change to the normal 24/7 hours of service,” the IH press release said.

“Should these hours change, IH will provide an update.”

Kaslo residents should not that in case of an emergency call 9-1-1.

Residents with concerns should visit the emergency department at Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson and for non-urgent needs, visit a walk-in clinic in Nelson.

People with prescriptions should visit the local pharmacy/drug store, and ensure they are up to date.

The HealthLink BC line at 8-1-1 (24 hour service) is also available to those people unsure about your need to go to the emergency department.
