Coroners Service identifies Trail drowning victim

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who was found deceased in the Columbia River on July 18.

The man is Andrew Lee Evans, aged 28, from Fruitvale. Evans was witnessed entering the Columbia River by RCMP officers on July 10, and was seen to be experiencing difficulties before being swept away by strong currents. Evans was subsequently found deceased in the river on July 18 by boat users in an area near the Waneta Dam.

The BC Coroners Service and the RCMP continue to investigate this death.

The family of Evans has been notified of his death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time. The BC Coroners Service expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Evans.
