The signs on both sides of the Beasley bluffs, 12 kilometers west of Nelson on Highway 3A, were errected to give warning to drivers of unexpected icy conditions on the four-kilometer section.

The new technology can detect ice crystals forming on the dangerous stretch of road, sending a message to the signs at both entrances to the Beasley bluffs.

During the off season, Ministry of Transportation has entered additional warning messages to drivers who may not get the message not to Drink And Drive.
