Two Birchbank golfers traded spots on the medal podium as the West Kootenay Junior Golf Circuit held stops at Nelson’s Granite Pointe and Christina Lake course.

Brenan Moroney and Tyler McKay won at Granite Pointe and Christina Lake, respectively, as the circuit entered its second weekend of play.

Moroney needed a playoff to edge McKay at Granite Pointe. Both players finished the day with a 3-over-par 75 in Nelson.

Both players birdied the par 5, 18th hole to finish in a deadlock.  In the playoff Moroney had a two-putt par to win the playoff.

Results from Granite Pointe had Nelson’s Carson Arcuri winning the 15-16 Division over Hanno Southam of the Rosemont course while Aiden Browell of Champion Lakes took the Under-14 title.

Sunday, McKay got the last laugh on his Birchbank teammate, edging Moroney in a playoff after the two registered rounds of 74.

However, McKay needed to work a little longer for his title as playoff lasted four holes, with McKay making a birdie on the par 5, fourth hole to win.

Isaac Janzen of Creston won the 15-16 Category over David Launier of Rock Creek with Jeff Ashton of Birchbank third.

Browell edged Jackson Konkin of Birchbank in the Under-14 running.

19th HOLE: Saturday in Nelson the tour saw a bunch of fresh new players. Emily Ashton of Castlegar played in her first ever-junior circuit and did very well in the nine-hole division. Kyle Hall and Ben Kelsch, both from Granite Point, and Ely Overennay from Castlegar play their first circuit events of the year.
