Bizarre twist in Johnson's Landing thefts - items found at roadside

Some of the property stolen from the recent break-and-enters in the Johnson’s Landing area has now been recovered. Kaslo RCMP are crediting a sharp-eyed local citizen with pointing them in the right direction.
Kaslo Detachment Commander Cpl Shaun Begg says that a local resident, travelling near Fussey’s Corner, about 100 meters east of Highway 31, noticed a Toro lawn tractor, a snow plow, Table saw, various other hand tools and other equipment related to the recent break and enters, piled neatly at the side of the roadway. This location is about 18 km away from the original site of the Break and Enter.
“It is often said that the local citizens are the ‘eyes and ears’ for the police. This is certainly true in this case,” said Begg. “Special thanks to the citizen for coming forward.
“Perhaps it was a case of a guilty conscience at work,” he continued, referring to the criminals disposing of the stolen goods. “ In any event, it is nice to be able to return at least some of the property to the victimized property owners.”
No arrests have been made to date and the RCMP investigation is continuing.
