West Kootenay Cats score draw in final game at provincials against Prince George

Julie Sidoni of Trail scored the lone goal as West Kootenay Wildcats played to a 1-1 tie Wednesday at the B.C. Hockey Bantam Female Championships in Vernon.

The game was the final contest of the Championships after the Cats finished were eliminated from the playoffs with a 0-2-2 record.

West Kootenay lost 5-1 to Tri Cities earlier in the day.

North Shore meets Juan de Fuca and Tri Cites battles Terrace in semi final action Thursday.

The winners play for the provincial title at 8 p.m. Thursday.

The last game of the championship for West Kootenay and Prince George was a very physical game with more than 30 minutes in penalties West Kootenay had 18 minutes and Prince George had 29.

Earlier against Tri Cities, West Kootenay got off to a rough start falling behind 3-0 early.

The Wildcats got on the board in the second period with a goal by Reese McCrory, assisted by Emilie Tebulte.

However, Tri Cities added two more goals to complete the scoring.

West Kootenay opened with a 3-3 draw against host Greater Vernon before dropping two straight games to Juan de Fuca 3-0 and Tri Cities.

The tournament concludes the season for West Kootenay, consisting of players from throughout the region — including Castlegar, Trail, Rossland, Fruitvale and Nelson.
