New Westminster’s Andrew Bilesky is off to the Tim Horton’s Brier next month in Edmonton after winning the Canadian Direct Insurance B.C. Men’s Provincial Curling title Sunday in Parksville.

Bilesky, Steve Kopf, Derek Errington and Aaron Watson defeated fellow Royal City skip Brent Pierce 7-4 to advance to the Brier March 2-10 in Edmonton.

The Royal City rink swept through the playoff round after qualifying out of the C event.

West Kootenay rep Deane Horning failed to qualify for the playoff round after losing 5-4 to Jay Wakefield of New Westminster.

Horning, third Don Freschi, second Rob Nobert, lead Brad Wood and fifth Kevin Nesbitt, lost to Bilesky in the opening round 7-2.

Meanwhile, Tom Buchy of Kimberley managed to make it to the C-Final before losing to Bilesky 8-3.

The Men’s provincial is not the last curling for Freschi.

The Trail curler is in his home city this week to compete in the Tim Horton’s Senior Men’s Championships.

Freschi is joined by skiip Tom Shypitka of Cranbrook, Nelson third Fred Thomson and lead Bill King of Fruitvale.

Myron Nichol of Castlegar is also entered in the championships.

The championships begin Tuesday at the Trail Curling Club.
