RCMP has called off search efforts for missing Clearwater school teacher Courtney Buck, who is missing and presumed drowned in the Clearwater River after a car accident Sunday (December 9).

Courtney Buck was travelling with husband Skye Buck on their way home when their vehicle lost control on Highway 5 and then crashed into the North Thompson River.

The collision occurred at approximately 7 p.m., at ‘Wolf’s Corner’ approximately 17 kilometers south of Clearwater, BC.

The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team have located the vehicle and driver, Skye Buck, but Courtney is still missing.

On Wednesday December 12 the Clearwater RCMP and local Search and Rescue teams completed all possible search efforts along the Thompson River near Clearwater.

Courtney Buck was not located during the extensive efforts.

The search, which had been ongoing since December 9th, included air search by the Southeast District RCMP Air Services helicopter, ground searches by RCMP and local Search and Rescues volunteers and Dept Fisheries and Oceans vessels on the water.

The Clearwater RCMP will continue to consult with local Search and Rescue technicians to assess further search efforts as river conditions and water levels change.

The RCMP Air Services crews and Dept Fisheries and Oceans also remain aware and will conduct future patrols during the normal course of their duties in this area.

The Clearwater RCMP and BC Coroners Services are continuing their investigations and are providing support to the affected families and local community.
