Previous story:

Police are providing more information about an armed home invasion in Silverton last week (Nov. 23), at a home on Red Mountain Road.

In a press release issued Dec. 4, RCMP Sgt. Wicentowish said two male suspects will remain in custody until Dec. 7, when they will appear in Nelson court to face, “several firearms and violence-related Criminal Code charges, two of which include forcible confinement … and assault with a weapon.”

He said the two suspects were allegedly at the property looking for marijuana, but no marijuana grow op was located on the property.

“The victims were assaulted and threatened before escaping and calling the RCMP,” Wicentowich said.

“Approximately two hours later, the two suspects were located and arrested … in Bridesville.”

He said the victims and suspects were known to each other, and police believe this to be an isolated incident.

“The RCMP is working with the Canadian Border Services Agency into the immigration status of both suspects,” he added.

“One of the suspects is a US citizen with a lengthy criminal record (who) is believed to be illegally in Canada. This suspect has been detained by CBSA and will face an immigration hearing once the Criminal Code matters are settled.”

One of the victims and one of the suspects suffered stab wounds during the incident, but there is no word yet on their health status.
