A 27-year-old Castlegar man remains in hospital today with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, after an accident on Ooteschenia Road at roughly 4 p.m. on Nov. 6, according to Castlegar RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew.

“The driver lost control of his truck and flipped several times before crashing into the trees off road,” she said. “The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

“He was taken to the Trail hospital with several broken bones, bruising and abrasions,” she said, adding the road was closed for a few hours as the scene was examined.

“Police believe that speed and alcohol were factors in this crash, and the investigation continues. The driver is facing several charges, including:  driving while prohibited, lmpaired driving,  no insurance, and failing to wear a seatbelt.”
