A routine traffic stop netted a Calgary man more than just a speeding ticket.

The Albertan is facing trafficking charges after RCMP found four kilograms of packaged marijuana with an estimated street value of $16,000 during a traffic stop on Highway 3/93 just north of Cranbrook Saturday (October 7).

Cranbrook RCMP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 3/93 when they pulled a vehicle over travelling in excess of 130 kilometers per hour.

During the search of the single occupant vehicle, officers found the packaged marijuana.

The driver of the car, a resident of Calgary, was arrested and later released pending a court appearance in Cranbrook Provincial Court on charges of Possession of a Controlled for the Purposes of Trafficking.
