RCMP get their man the easy way

One RCMP officer had one fall right into his lap while on patrol in Vernon.
While driving to the traffic lights at 32nd Street and 43rd Avenue in the Central Okanagan City, the North Okanagan Traffic Services officer noticed a north bound driver was drinking something from can while talking on cell phone, at the same time.
When the driver realized the police officer was watching he dropped the cell phone.
The officer stopped the vehicle in question at a near-by parking lot.
The driver produced his license and admitted to being on cell phone.
When asked about the drink he produced open can of Old Milwaukee beer taken from an open pack with fourteen remaining cans that was located under some clothes on passenger seat.
The 30-year-old Vernon resident was issued ticket for talking on cell phone $167 and open liquor in the vehicle $230.
After passing the road side sobriety test, the driver was allowed to continue on his way minus the remaining fourteen cans of beer.
The RCMP would like to remind everyone that September is Distracted Driving month. Officers will be paying close attention to people using electronic devices while driving.
Drivers talking on a cell phone must have a hands-free device.
However, drivers operating under restrictions of the “L” or “N” are not permitted to use a cell phone at all not even with a blue tooth device.
