Running back Dan Farden scored three touchdowns to lead Nelson Our Glass Ogs to a 38-26 victory over Dam Inn Mates in a battle of the West Kootenay Flag Football League heavyweights Sunday at Mount Sentinel.

The win secures top spot for the 4-1 Ogs as the league now moves into the post season.

Dan Inn, undefeated for most of the season, drops to second spot in league standings at 4-2.

Our Glass has one game remaining this season, a date Sunday against lowly 1-4 Trail Thundercats.

In the other game Sunday the Steamshovel Brewers dumped Castlegar Vikings 24-6.

Our Glass jumped to a 19-7 advantage thanks to the fine quarterback play of Gord Clark and Farden.

Dam Inn, missing several key players, rallied behind the great play of pivot Kelly Voykin — at one time trailing 30-26 after the Mates Kyle Niminiken caught a two-point conversion.

But after Our Glass went four-and-one on the next series, Jordan McLaren intercepted a tipped Voykin pass for the pick-six to give Nelson all the points it would need.

Clark ran in for one touchdown for Our Glass before connecting with receiver Rob Calroy for two others.

Jim Ellis and Burnadino Carpio each had interceptions for Our Glass.

Playoffs begin Sunday, November 13 with semi final action.

Our Glass meets fourth-place and defending champion, Castlegar Vikings while the Steamshovel Brewers battle the Mates.

The Brewers Steve Doyle threw for four touchdowns — a pair to Nathan Jarvis and singles to Jon Francis and Greg Kinnear.

The Steamshovel defence stymied the Castlegar offence. Despite giving up chucks of yards to the Vikings, the Brewers stopped Castlegar on numerous goal line stands.
