No need to wait for the sobering light of dawn and the opening of the recreation centre front desk to register for that fitness program, you can now register online, any time.

Online program registration — for the Nelson and District Community Complex and the Castlegar and District Community Complex — was launched on Monday but people have to wait until April 14 to receive passwords, and further until April 19 before the site “goes live” and registration is possible.

Once it is fully functional, people can perform a number of online searches to find exactly what they want, what is offered and at which centre, and then register for it, said Regional District of Central Kootenay manager of Community Services, Joe Chirico.

“It’s a large step forward for us,” he said. “This brings us up and puts us in the queue as a public service.”

The online service will take some of the strain off of the front desk at the recreation centre, and give people the flexibility to find the information from their home when they need it, without having to rely on the front desk staff for help.

The largest portion of website will allow people to register for programs online. They will be able to sort by different courses and see what courses each recreation centre — including Creston — in the regional district offers.

They will be able to see the availability of facility rentals, create accounts, login, renew expired memberships, make payments securely, view transaction history and receipts, and check account balance.

How to log in to an online registration account
All users who have an email address on file with the recreation centre will receive their family login ID/client barcode and PIN number by email on April 14.

If you do not receive this email, or do not have an account in the system, please follow the instructions provided in the ‘How Do I Get Started?’ section on the Welcome page of the online registration website.

For additional help, see the Help link at the top right corner of the Online Registration website, or contact the recreation centre.
