Trail Stingrays with an outstanding weekend in Kimberley

The Stingrays sent 23 swimmers over to the Kimberley meet this past weekend.

13 swimmers received medals for their individual categories:

The Stingrays smashed 4 Relay records this weekend!

The Division 2 Girls team of Eden Kormendy, Kayla Green, Kayla Fraser, and Melissa Pitman broke a record in the 4 x 50 meter Medley Relay and the 4 x 50 meter Freestyle Relay.

Medley Relay Old Time: 3:52.02
*Stingrays New Record: 3:25.70

Free Relay Old Time: 3:55.70
*Stingrays New Record: 2:58.62

The Division 5 Girls team of Cassidy Martin, Jennifer Chung, Madison Green and Sam Theobald also broke the Medley and the Freestyle Relay records.

The Stingrays set 3 Individual records as well:

Joshua Ballarin broke the 50m Backstroke and the 100m Freestyle Records.

100 Freestyle Old Time: 1.22.66
Josh’s Record: 1.22.55

Eden Kormendy broke a record in the 50m Breastroke:

Old Time: 46.52
Eden’s Record: 45.24

At the end of the weekend, the stingrays were very pleased with a 2nd place result in the overall standings.

Kimberley Seahorses won their home meet finishing with 1318 points. Trail was a close second with 1100 points. Followed by Castlegar in 3rd, Nelson in 4th, Grand Forks 5th, Creston 6th and Colville 7th.

Congratulations to all swimmers who competed at the meet. It was the last regular season meet before heading in Regionals in Nelson. Regionals will take place August 7th and 8th. The top 3 swimmers in each individual race will have an oppourtunity to compete at the 2010 Provincials in Kamloops, BC against the best in the province.
