The Regional Fire Service of Kootenay Boundary, Company 1 (Rossland) is currently raising funds with an eye to improving their capabilities in serving the area. For some time now, the largely volunteer group has identified their ability to access backcountry and trail areas quickly as a key stumbling block in their operations; given the explosion of backcountry popularity with area users and visitors, Company 1 recognized that their first responder status necessitated specialized equipment to remedy the situation with accessing difficult terrain.

In support of their procuring an off-road vehicle/quad, The Rossland Firefighters’ Society is currently running a raffle. Tickets are $20 each, with the prizes consisting of a DVD player for third place, a guided fishing trip for second, and the grand prize of a Bombardier 500 XT ATV as the grand prize.  The draw date is set for May 12th, with tickets available while supplies last (tickets are available from your local Company 1 Rossland firefighters, or between the hours of 8:30am and 3:30pm at the Company 1 fire-hall at Washington and Second Avenue, (250) 362-5412.

A terrific way to show support for both the local fire service and improved safety on our trails system, all ticket purchases are most appreciated!
